11/23/2009 Georges Laraque, RW, Mon The NHL suspended Laraque five games for a hit on Detroit defenseman Niklas Kronwall.

Analysis: The Montreal Canadiens enforcer received the suspension for an incident on Nov. 21. against the Red Wings when he collided with Kronwall resulting in a leg-on-leg, open-ice hit. The NHL said Laraque, who was assessed a minor penalty for tripping on the play, deliberately extended his knee and, through his actions, caused an injury to Kronwall. Kronwall will be out four to eight weeks with a sprained ligament in his left knee because of the hit.
11/23/2009 Guillaume Latendresse, LW, Min The Minnesota Wild have traded former first-round draft choice Benoit Pouliot (BEHN-wah, POO-lee-aht) to Montreal for Latendresse.

Analysis: Latendresse had two goals and an assist in 23 games for the Canadiens this season.
11/23/2009 Benoit Pouliot, LW, Mon The Wild have traded former first-round draft choice Pouliot to Montreal for left wing Guillaume Latendresse.

Analysis: The 23-year-old Pouliot has been one of a handful of first-round disappointments for the Wild in recent years after being drafted fourth overall in 2005.
11/23/2009 Derek Dorsett, RW, Cls The Blue Jackets have placed Dorsett on injured reserve retroactive to Thursday.

Analysis: Dorsett was injured Thursday in a 4-1 win over the Dallas Stars when he was hit from behind by Stars forward James Neal. Dorsett has one goal and three assists in 18 games this season.
11/23/2009 Patrick Kane, RW, Chi Kane was held without a point for the first time in 10, ending his streak at 13 points Sunday in a 1-0 win at Vancouver.

Analysis: Kane will try to start a new streak Wednesday at San Jose.
11/23/2009 Antti Niemi, G, Chi Niemi stopped 30 shots Sunday in a 1-0 win at Vancouver.

Analysis: It was Niemi's second shutout this season. "Maybe the most confident (I've felt) in the NHL today," Niemi said. "I don't know why, but I didn't worry about anything else, just make the next save."

Analysis: Kozlov has 10 points this season, including two goals. Those are not terrific fantasy numbers for the winger.

Analysis: St. Louis has six points in his last four games.

Analysis: Foster had just one point in his first 11 games.

Analysis: Stamkos was just glad the Lightning recovered after nearly blowing a 3-1 lead in the third. "It's just a matter of protecting the lead," he said. "We can't expect to do that and win overtime after giving up those two goals."

Analysis: There is no word on when Downie will return or the seriousness of the injury.

Analysis: Fleury won for just the second time in seven games after opening the season 10-2-0 with a 2.14 GAA.
