Everton-West Ham United Preview
JAMES PIERCY,
(AP) -- LONDON (SE) - West Ham captain Mark Noble believes the Upton Park roar can propel them to a second straight league win on Sunday and pile on the misery on out-of-form Everton.
Gianfranco Zola's side recorded their first home win of the season on Wednesday night in beating Aston Villa 2-1 in dramatic circumstances.
Noble opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Zavon Hines grabbed a dramatic last minute winner to lift West Ham out of the Premier League's bottom three.
Noble, who will make his 100th league appearance if he starts against the Toffees, said: "I can say of the moments I have been through with this club that was emotionally one of the best I have had.
"It was so good to be involved with that. It was a really tough game but in the end I thought we deserved it – the confidence is up for Everton.
"We have rested and trained well and hopefully the fans will turn up like they did against Villa.
"It will be fantastic if they get behind us and drive us onto another win.
"There support was brilliant and now hopefully we can kick on. It is an unbelievable feeling when you score a goal like that – you feel like crying.
"The crowd were unbelievable when Villa got their equaliser, they still cheered us and did not get on our backs. I thought that is what we need with what we are going through at the moment.
"I feel I have got a right to say that because I am a West Ham fan myself and I have been brought up around here but I thought they were unbelievable and we won that game partly because of them."
Zola is sweating on the fitness of full-back Henrita Illunga and target-man Carlton Cole after both limped off with hamstring trouble during the win over Villa.
Everton manager David Moyes continues to fight an injury crisis for the trip to East London but may be able to recall top-scorer Louis Saha, if the French striker passes a late fitness test.
Saha missed the midweek 2-0 Europa League defeat to Benfica with a calf strain and Moyes will assess his condition right up to kick-off.
Moyes is definitely without Mikel Arteta, Leon Osman, Phil Neville, Steven Pienaar and Phil Jagielka as he attempts to reverse a run of seven games without a win.
Everton striker Yakubu has vowed to deliver the goals regardless if his strike-partner is fit despite a poor start to the season having found the target just once so far.
Nigerian international Yakubu said: "When playing against good teams if you do not take your chances you get punished and there are a lot of good teams in the Premier League.
"I think the goals will come but I will keep working hard in training and hope they go in.
"We have to keep working hard, everyone is down because everyone wants to win and hopefully we will get the result we want at West Ham."
